New supports oblige
developmental pruning for their first couple of years subsequent to planting.
Developmental pruning is normally done in winter or spring.
After this, upkeep trimming
is completed, for the most part once per year for casual fences and twice every
year for formal supports. Some formal supports may require three cuts a year.
Upkeep trimming is by and large done in the middle of spring and summer.
